Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Balance ("Balance," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our website, mobile apps, and services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

The Services are provided through a technology platform developed, hosted, and operated by Ovation Ventures, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Ovation"). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, Balance is the controller of personal information collected through the Services and determines the purposes and means of processing. Ovation acts as a service provider (and, where applicable, a processor) to Balance under a contractual agreement that restricts Ovation’s use of personal information to operating and supporting the platform on Balance’s behalf, prohibits Ovation from selling personal information, and prohibits Ovation from using personal information for its own independent purposes, except for the development, security, and improvement of the underlying platform technology using anonymized and aggregated data as described in this Privacy Policy. Inquiries regarding personal information should be directed to Balance using the contact information set forth in Section 11.

  • Financial Information: Bank accounts, credit scores, transaction history, income, assets, liabilities, mortgage information, investment portfolio and other financial data.

  • Financial Planning: Wills, trusts, insurance policies, retirement and other savings goals.

  • Account & Login Information: Username, password, security questions and information required for single-sign on via Apple ID or Google.

  • User-Generated Content: Uploaded documents (e.g., insurance documents, tax filings, estate plans), messages, notes.

  • Communication Data: Customer support inquiries, feedback, and emails.

  • AI Interactions: When you use our artificial intelligence features (referred to as "Bravo AI"), we collect the text of your queries, prompts, and the feedback you provide to the AI (collectively, "Chat Data"). Please do not input sensitive identifiers (like full Social Security numbers) directly into the AI chat interface.

  • Marketplace Interactions: If you engage with any third-party product or service listed in our Marketplace (for example, by clicking through to a Marketplace provider, requesting information, or completing an application or transaction with a Marketplace provider), we may collect information about that engagement, including the offering you engaged with, the date and time of engagement, and whether you completed a qualifying action with the Marketplace provider.

B. Information We Collect Automatically

  • Device & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, mobile device identifiers (including Apple IDFA and Google Advertising ID where applicable and where you have granted any required permissions), application version, push notification tokens, and similar technical information necessary to deliver and improve the Services.

  • Behavioral Analytics: How you interact with our platform, features used, financial planning trends.

  • Cookies & Tracking: See Section 5 for details.

C. Information from Third-Party Sources

We may collect data from:

  • Linked Financial Accounts: If you connect a bank account, credit card, or investment account through our account aggregation feature, we (and our account aggregation provider, Plaid Inc.) receive financial transactions, balance data, and related information in read-only format. You control what third-party accounts you connect, and your use of the Plaid service is subject to Plaid's end user privacy policy, available at https://plaid.com/legal/. We will request your separate, affirmative consent at the time you elect to link any third-party account, regardless of any consent you may have previously provided through a Balance website, microsite, or other channel.

  • Credit Bureaus: For credit score tracking, if you opt-in.

  • Public Records & Data Verification Providers: To confirm identity and prevent fraud, and otherwise provide our Services.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Provide our Services – Financial education, counseling and programs based on your financial situation.

  • Market our Services – Offer our services to you.

  • Process Transactions – Handle payments for subscriptions, premium features, or linked financial services.

  • Enhance Security – Prevent unauthorized access to our systems.

  • Communicate with You – Send updates, reminders, educational content, promotions (only with your consent), and service notifications.

  • Analyze & Improve the Platform – Use anonymized data to improve features and provide better recommendations.

  • Ensure Legal Compliance – Respond to regulatory requests, subpoenas, or fraud investigations.

  • Power Artificial Intelligence Features – Process your questions through Bravo AI and generate responses. We may also use anonymized, aggregated Chat Data to test and improve the accuracy of our AI models, ensuring they provide better financial logic over time.

  • Operate the Marketplace – Facilitate your engagement with third-party products and services made available through our Marketplace, track qualifying actions with Marketplace providers for referral fee or revenue share purposes, and report aggregated engagement metrics to Marketplace providers and program partners.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share data with:

  • Service Providers – Secure data hosting, payment processing, security monitoring, analytics providers and other services required to operate and maintain our business.

  • Legal Authorities – If required by law, subpoena, or fraud prevention efforts.

  • Third-Party Providers – Only if you opt in (e.g., estate planning or insurance services) to render services requested by you.

  • Parties to Corporate Transactions – If Balance merges, is acquired, or undergoes restructuring.

  • AI & Large Language Model Providers – We utilize third-party artificial intelligence providers to generate responses for Bravo AI. These providers process your Chat Data solely to return a response to you.

  • Marketplace Providers – If you elect to engage with a third-party product or service listed in our Marketplace, we may share information necessary to facilitate that engagement (such as the fact that you clicked through from our Marketplace, and where applicable a referral identifier) with the relevant Marketplace provider. Information you provide directly to a Marketplace provider after clicking through (for example, on their website or in their application) is collected by that provider and governed by that provider's own privacy policy, not this Privacy Policy. We may receive referral fees, commissions, revenue share, or other compensation from Marketplace providers and other third-party partners in connection with users' engagement of their services. Such compensation does not increase the price you pay to any third-party provider.
